History
OVER 65 YEARS OF ENERGY RESEARCH

Since 1951, we’ve grown from a federal lignite research facility to a total-systems team with extensive experience, multidisciplinary staff, global partnerships, and state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

Cutting-edge research requires state-of-the-art resources. We have seven different laboratory spaces, three city blocks of demonstration facilities, event spaces, meeting rooms, and four floors of offices.

The Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) is a global leader in researching and developing technologies that make the energy we use and produce more efficient and environmentally friendly. We work in partnership with the University of North Dakota to commercialize marketable products, train students of all disciplines, and employ postdoctoral graduates. Utilizing decades of academic research, we are a driving force for innovation and new opportunities in the energy industry.
